Day 3 - ... Cross the Roads like the Romans do.

A cute little Chapel we found in Rome which we like

Inthe morning we set out for the Vatican but as it so happens the Pope didnt want ny1 in his church before 5'0'clock so after having a look at St.peters square and the outside of the basilica we went for a walk along the Tiber passing by Castell sant Angelo and just as angelic a bridge.
The Bridge is Lined with statues of Angels, all by Bernini, holding items reffering to the Passion of Christ...they're very good sculptures.

Pics at Castel Sant Angelo/Bridge

We then saw a couple of bath tubs in Piazza campo dei Fiori and Piazza Farnese, We then came across the impressive Piazzza Navona with its fountains including La Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Bernini and the the church of St.Agnes in agony, which we went into and admired all the statues of martyrs dying.
The Fontana di Quattro Fiume, another Bernini Masterpiece, found in Piazza Navona, The four Rivers are supposedly the Danube, Nile, Ganges and Rio Plata but we're not sure which was which. (It's the place Langdon spent bout half an hour under water when the big Arab guy tried to kill him)

We then went on to find the Pantheon in the which is surprisingly well hidden. This is a huge and very anctient church with an enormous hemispherical dome. In the centre of the dome there's a massive hole which was used to let rain, pigeons or light into the church.

It wasn't easy to take a proper photo of the Pantheon's massive dome, which featured the Occulus. The Pantheon is the oldest church in Rome still in use and was converted from a Pagan Temple (when it was dedicated to all the Pagan gods...hence the name).

Around every corner we ran into another piazza with another fountain and another beautiful church. We walked to the Trevi Fountain, our favourite spot in Rome, especially at night and in the rain.

Photo taken while running in the Rain.

Our clothesdrying over the radiator in the Hostel room.

We made our way back to the Hostel, passing by Trevi once again, got lost and completely soaked cause of the rain.
At least we got home, got dry, ate well and had a nice long sleep.

Night 1: All Roads lead to Rome (I hope)

We caught the train with no problem and we actually were on time.
After an uneventful train ride,
apart from not being able to sleep for 12 hours afraid that we would not be awake when the train reached our destination. We arrived at Tib. Station in ROME at 08.00.

DAY 2: When in Rome...

We took the Metro from there to Stazione Termini and walked a bit to our Hostel, freezing our bits off (it was 2°C).
After dumping our kits at the hostel, without a shower or breakfast, we headed straight for the Collosseum. We admired it from all angles and confirmed that it's as amazing as people say it is. We spent a couple of hours running laps around it and gladiating. It honestly was really damn cool running around it.

Fotos from Colloseum:

We Spent the Afternoon Running round the Palatine Hill, a massive area littered with ancient Roman Ruins. It is supposedly the place where Romulus and Remus got saved by the She-Wolf
and where lots of rich Roman people had their big houses.

Some of the many many ruins on Palatine hill.

After this we walked back to our hostel, had a nice, long awaited, warm shower, cooked a warm plate of pasta then went on another little excursion. We headed to Piazza di Spagna by metro and checked out the spanish steps and the fountain in the Piazza.

From Piazza di Spagna we made our way to the Fontana di Trevi, quite a spectacular sight, even for Rome. We sat by the fountain for a while, then it started raining so we waited it out under a near by canopy. We walked back to our hostel (in the Asianic district), we decided that walking through a city like this is one of the mst interesting and thorough ways of getting to know it.

Fotos From Piazza di Spagna (not very good ones though!!!!!!)

Next we went to sleep in our nice cosy hostel room :-)

PS: Sorry took so long to post but we have very limited internet time, and it takes long to update fotos. thank you to tim for making fotos possible

DAY 1: Sicily

We arrived in Pozzallo after a normal (boring ass) ferry thingon which we watched "Down With Love" starring Renee Zelwegeer.
On Arrival (In about 30 seconds) we found a guy (Taxi driver) to take us to Siracusa.
Spent the morning running round:

We went to the Orrecchio di Dionisio... a massive ass cave that looks like an ear canal and echoes a real lot. very impressive, we tested it rigorously.

We had our first meal at a Greek Amphitheatre. Very Romantic if you ask me.

The Theatre was complete with a natural spring. Photo of us playing with the camera timer below.

After spending alot of the morning and afternoon hunting for our train tickets, we wandered round the streets of Siracusa. Scoping out the Marina, eating Zeppolle, freshly roasted Chestnuts and supercool ice cream (even though it was pretty cold). We were pretty tired by 8 when we caught the train to Rome. We were happy to put down our bags for a while and sequester a cabin for ourselves.
